The time has finally come, we are off to Italy tomorrow!
I have not been back to the motherland since I studied abroad in Florence in 2004. I am really excited to head over again but this time, with a new crop top, an international data plan and my own damn money! No angry calls from K-Pal (my mom) on this adventure.
So, we’re heading to Rome first and then to Praiano on the Amalfi coast. I cannot wait to eat gnocchi (my favorite gluten filled food), gelato, bread and cheese for 10 days straight. And the Pantheon, oof, the Pantheon. But first friends, I must pack.
Now I am a minimalist so, most folks will likely pack a bit more than me. I acutally wanted to pack more myself, however, if there’s one thing in the world I hate, it’s schlepping. I refuse to schlep. And Joel and I are at a point in our relationship where my packing shit I can’t carry is not as cute as it once might have been. He is not going to carry my stuff for me. The travel-damsel in distress jig is up.
So, here is what I’ve got.
I’ll be packing in my favorite red back pack.
We have 4-5 days of sightseeing in Rome and 4-5 days of chilling on the coast, so for clothes, I’ve got:
Two day dresses (navy (sold out other color option) Floral, old (similar here and here)
Two tees (striped crop, similar here floral, similar here and here)
2 pairs of Jorts (one high waisted, one reg – made myself), my favorite super-worn-in linen button-up and 1 black tank
3 pairs of shoes; sneakers for sightseeing, sandals to dress up for dinner and flops for the beach
2 black bathing suits because hey, all my bathing suits are black and I couldn’t decide between the one peice and the high-waisted bikini (stay tuned)
And finally, I’m brining two dresses for night time/dinner; one black, deep-v maxi dress and one cream, patterned high-low wrap dress.
As for some other things I’ll be toting
- toiletries case
- small cross-body bag (wallet, passport, etc.)
- my journal, because I have a lot of feelings
- Jose Eber, because the man has changed my life
- my Kindle & charger, because I tend to crush books whilst vacationing
- my iPhone & charger
- make-up, let’s keep it classy
- 1 necklace
- socks, underpants, pjs, not cute, hence no need for a photos
- earplugs, eye mask and ski socks for the plane, no joke, I am always, always cold
- sunglasses
And don’t worry, I’ll take my first CTK selfie from the airport tomorrow to show you my super comfy, (hopefully not hideously frumpy) travel outfit, which consists of a maxi, cardigan and giant scarf.
I’m excited to see if I nailed this packing job. It’s always a little competition I have with myself when I travel. I believe that if you really missed having something, you should have packed better and on the flip side, if you didn’t wear/use something, you should have packed better.
What do you guys think? What’s your packing process?
